Our Peru Adventure

Buenos Tardes!

We are in the mountain city of Cusco in Peru. Today we took a 1 hour flight from Lima over the mountains and the coastal desert to the Incan Empire city of Cusco. We will be here sightseeing for a few days and slowly acclimatizing to the elevation of 11,000 feet. So far so good. I was instructed by our travel guide, Edwin, today to take a long afternoon nap and so I did. Tonight we go to the town square for a Peruvian meal of alpaca steak and quinoa soup. We have been drinking coca tea and eating the local chocolate to ward off altitude sickness.
I do not have any pictures today because I left my camera on the airplane and when security went to look for it ten minutes later, the camera had ¨disappeared¨. I will be shopping for a new camera soon.
Our group is very friendly and interesting, mostly educators and their families.
Our last night in Lima we saw a folk dancing and traditional music program while dining on ceviche, asparagus soup and yucca balls. I draw the line at guinea pig though.....

Summer Camp for Conner

Today was the closing day of summer camp at TSD in Austin. John, Mitch and I drove up early this morning to retrieve our camper. The campus is more beautiful than I remembered and the awesome staff was well, AWESOME. He had a fantastic time and made new friends. He got the award for Most Imaginative Camper and won first place in the freestyle. We are very happy to have him home.

Happy Father's Day 2009 !

Today, Father's Day, was a good day for the Egan men. John got to spend the weekend with our youngest son, Patrick, at Big Bend National Park hiking and camping.
Scott was with Jack and Sawyer at the Chattanooga Aquarium.
Mitchell was with Conner at Granite Beach on Lake LBJ in Austin.
What great Dads we have and so devoted to their sons. Here are a few photos from the Big Bend trip.

Our cousin Jamie

This is my Aunt Jean with her daughter, Joanie (named for my mom) and granddaughter, Jamie. In the cute pink hat is Jamie's niece, Avery. Our cousin Jamie is a beautiful 31 year old who is on the waiting list for a kidney and pancreas transplant at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, California. She is in kidney failure and goes for dialysis 3 times per week with the help of her mom, Joanie, and Joanie's terrific husband Patrick. Please say a prayer for Jamie, her wonderful parents, and their search for a donor.

The Golden Girls 2009

Hello new house!

Good bye old house!

John and I are in San Diego helping Jean and Joan move into their new apartment. They have found a beautiful spot here in paradise and it has NO STAIRS!

Happy Mothers Day !

Today was a very happy mothers day for me and my sons and grandsons. I was lucky enough to spend the day with John, Mitch, Patrick and Conner.
My husband taught my three sons how to celebrate a proper Mother's day as they were growing up and today it was fun to see Mitch and Patrick teaching Conner.
I know that up in Nashville Scott, Jack and Sawyer will be honoring and treating Jen to a special Mothers day. He learned from his dad how to pamper the woman who gave him those beautiful red headed boys.
Happy Mothers day to my mom, my women friends and my sisters who constantly inspire me and teach me the meaning of "mother".
